Zone Technique

According to Dr. Thurman Fleet, a human body can only be affected by six kinds of disturbances - glandular, eliminative, nervous, digestive, muscular, and circulatory. He introduced Zone theory in 1931 and believed disturbance in one or more of these systems (zones) can affect brain’s ability to direct systems to perform normal functions. Dr. Peter Goldman of San Francisco, California, later re-introduced it as the Zone technique.

What are the Six Zones of the Body?

Zone 1 Glandular System

It is the area of the immune system, hormones, memory, energy, appetite, and sleep. The system comprises - the pineal gland, pituitary gland, memory, skin & hair, thyroid, adrenals, pancreas, and liver, and helps regulate sleep and appetite.

Zone 2 Eliminative System

We take in a lot of toxins daily from food, water, air, and what not. You can get rid of all the toxins from the system and be healthy. The eliminative system comprises - nasal passage, nose & throat, lungs, bronchial tubes, kidneys, bladder, urination, colon & bowel, skin, and alkaline & acid balance.

Zone 3 Nervous System

It is the primary communication system in the body. It helps all systems function better with improved sleep, hormonal function, and increased energy. The system comprises - sense organs, eyes & ears, nervous system, nerves, reproductive organs, and immune system.

Zone 4 Digestive System

You must maintain a balanced diet comprising all the nutrients. Without a healthy digestive system, it is hard to maintain optimal health. The system comprises - the pancreas, liver, bowels, intestines, stomach glands, salivary glands, and the ability to digest foods that have upset you in the past.

Zone 5 Muscular System

For optimal health, your muscular zone needs the right balance. The system comprises - the neck & arm, muscles, nerve life, chest, abdomen & back muscles, strength, spinal alignment, and pelvic & thigh muscles.

Zone 6 Circulatory System

Every cell in the body needs nutrients, oxygen, and waste removal. Every cell, tissue, or organ can function better with proper circulation.

Benefits of Zone Technique

This system also impacts balance, flexibility, and strength and directly influences your spinal alignment and nerve connections. Balancing this zone can help restore —

  • Proper range of motion and movement
  • Improve flexibility
  • Eliminate chronic pain
  • Improve posture

How Does it Work?

The practitioner examines the patient to determine which brain centers are not in balance with other systems (zones) they control. The practitioner may then feel specific points on the patient’s head. These points are related to the six brain centers by nerve connections. The body is like a machine; six zones represent the positive pole, and specific related points in the spinal cord represent the negative pole of the body. When a brain center does not send proper signals to its system, everything associated with it suffers. Then the practitioner uses gentle manual or instrument spinal stimulation to stimulate specific points in the spinal cord and help achieve necessary results.
